Some random Kieran and Devin stuffs.
“Are you alright?” I looked up
through matted hair, squinting in the dim light that had invaded my
private darkness. Slowly, my eyes adjusted, and I was able to see the
speaker. The Rook was staring at me, not one drop of pity in her ruby
eyes. Figures. She was the one who sentenced me to this fate.
Crowley...Devin, I think.
Alright? What a vague term.
I had spent the last ten hours coughing up blood and writhing as my
organs realigned themselves. “No, I don't think I am...”
“Pity.”
I scrambled backwards, trying to avoid the boot coming towards my at
an alarming rate. Of course, I was nowhere near fast enough. My head
cracked against the stone floor with a sickening thud, and I
sprawled, blood trickling down my face. As I struggled to sit up and
regain my bearings, she continued to speak. “That was for killing
my brother, by the way.” Devin took a few steps backwards. “Now,
you're very lucky, Anderson. You can go back to your world,
completely-” She looked down at me. “Well, mostly
unharmed. Anyway, you won't be under my jurisdiction, for now.
Granted we'll probably follow soon, once we've organized.” She
grinned. “Humans here are...Not few and far between, but far
sparser than what you described in your world. It would be quite the
anomaly for Gwydir to turn down such a rich opportunity.” At the
back of my mind, I felt the first roots of dread start to take hold.
I had lead these predators to an unsuspecting world full of prey.
“Oh, and I will be
activating that contract, next we meet. Understand, pet?” Nodding,
I avoided her gaze. “Glad to see we're on the same page then.
Toodles!”
